There are many things parents want to pass on to their children as they grow up. However, poor oral hygiene should not be one of them. Practicing good oral hygiene is just as important to a person's health as regular diet and exercise and should be taught the same way as these to your children. Making sure your kids practice good oral hygiene is very important.

Passing it Down to Them
Although genetics cannot be helped, you should still practice what you preach to your children. They may inherit bad teeth from you, but this problem can be fixed as long as you practice what you preach. If you want your kids to grow up with healthy oral hygiene habits, you should be practicing the same thing to teach them how good it is for their oral health and overall health to brush and floss regularly as well as see a dentist often.

Keep a Good Attitude
Your children will often mirror what you do. For this very reason, you should keep a good attitude about practicing good oral hygiene. Don't make it seem like a hard thing or a boring thing to do to keep your mouth clean. Keep a positive attitude when doing what you are supposed to be doing to keep your mouth clean and your children will want to do the same thing.

Visit the Dentist Regularly

If you want your children to see a dentist like they are supposed to, then you need to do the same thing. Keep your regular dental visits and do not reschedule or cancel any of them. You want your children to see you are doing what is supposed to be done for your oral and overall health so that they will do the same thing, not only while they are young but as they are growing up as well.

See us for any information you may want or need on helping your children do the right thing and keep doing it when it comes to good oral health habits.
