Many people ignore things that happen to their body. They do not look at some things as a sign of a problem, instead they insist that they can live with whatever is going on. This is not always a good idea. If you think that the dry mouth you experience is something you can live with, you do not realize what is really going on. What is Dry Mouth?You may think that your mouth is dry because you have not drunk enough water. That is the case if you have been out in the heat and have not had any liquids for a long time, but a dry mouth is also a sign of another problem. Your salivary glands produce moisture for the mouth. When you are chewing food, more saliva is produced to help break down the food. Someone that suffers from chronic dry mouth does not produce enough saliva. The lack of saliva can lead to other issues. It is also not something that drinking a lot of water will fix. What Dry Mouth DoesBecause dry mouth means there is a lack of saliva, there are a number of problems that can happen. Many of the problems are with the teeth and gums. The saliva your mouth creates helps wash away the debris on the teeth and gums. If you have dry mouth, the debris stays there. That can lead to bacteria growth and tooth decay.
