Your oral health isn't just something that you think about when you're at home. You also need to take steps to keep your teeth and gums healthy while at work, but that is sometimes easier said than done. With so many important tasks calling for your attention, it is easy to get caught up in your day and forget about your mouth. Following a few simple tips can help. Drink More Water Water is the cornerstone to good oral health. It keeps the mouth well-lubricated and rinses away food, debris, and bacteria from the surface of the teeth. If you aren't able to brush your teeth because of your work schedule, rinsing out your mouth with water can help. Carry a Portable ToothbrushAfter your lunch break, you may want to visit the bathroom in order to brush your teeth. A portable toothbrush with a travel-sized tube of toothpaste can allow you to quickly brush before you get back to work. Chew Sugar-Free Gum Chewing a piece of sugar-free gum throughout the day can also help your oral health. Not only will it freshen your breath, but the chewing action can boost your saliva production. Be sure to look for sugar-free gum options that contain Xylitol for optimal results. Use PTO to Cover Your Dental AppointmentDon't let a hectic work schedule keep you from getting to your dental appointment. Prevention is the first step to a healthy mouth. You'll need professional cleanings at least once every six months in order to remove plaque and tartar, which keeps the teeth and gums healthy. Use your sick time, vacation time, or PTO to cover your visit. If it has been a while since your last dental appointment, give our office a call. We'll schedule you for your next cleaning and evaluation. |
