If you're reaching for a snack, you already know that it's better to eat something healthy such as fruits or vegetables rather than cookies or candy. But did you know that snacking on vegetables is actually a great way of keeping your teeth, gums, and mouth healthy? There are a number of different vegetable snacks you can reach for that will also improve your oral health.Protect Your GumsSnacking on carrots and celery is a great way of protecting your gums. These vegetables contain a large amount of fiber and stimulate the mouth to produce more saliva. That keeps the mouth clean and washes away bacteria that have gathered on your gums and teeth. Carrots and celery are also high in beta carotene and help the body produce vitamin A. Both of these foods also act somewhat like a natural toothbrush, scraping off bacteria and debris from your teeth as you eat them. Any fruits or vegetables that are crunchy will help keep your teeth clean.
