Are There Benefits of Getting Dental Implants Over Getting Dentures?
Posted on 8/24/2020 by Brandon Cooley
Many people who are in need of a tooth replacement procedure go back and forth between implants and veneers. For years, people only had one choice when it came to treatments for missing teeth.
Perhaps being the only game in town for several decades slowed the urgency to continue to develop and evolve the technology behind dentures because the fact of the matter is that other than a few tweaks and adjustments, they largely haven't changed since they were first invented.
Dental implants, on the other hand, are a relatively new technology that have already improved vastly since their first generation counterparts. When you get down to the real decision between implants and dentures, you'll find there really isn't much to debate at all.
Increased Strength
The first advantage hands down would be the fact that implants provide vastly superior strength to dentures. This is true not only of the actual material itself as dentures are notoriously soft and break easily, but also of the bite and mouth strength that people who have them experience. They also offer tremendous piece of mind in knowing that biting into a hard piece of food won't damage them.
Increased Stability
Secondly, the sturdiness and stability of dental implants simply cannot even be challenged by dentures. The difference between two soft, solid pieces being stuck to the top of your gums with an adhesive as opposed to multiple pieces being surgically attached under your gums is virtually immeasurable. In addition to all of these benefits, you can also rest easy that your teeth won't fall out following a hearty belly-laugh with family or friends.
